What to consider

Loft ventilation and attic venting help manage moisture in roof spaces where the construction requires airflow. The solution depends on insulation position, roof build-up and existing ventilation routes; adding vents without understanding the roof may not address the cause.

01

Attic venting installation

Suitable inlet and outlet positions need to be considered together. Eaves, roof-slope and ridge options depend on the construction and the ventilation strategy, not simply where a vent is easiest to fit.

02

Attic venting repairs

Existing vents may be obstructed, damaged or poorly integrated with surrounding coverings. Repairs should restore the airflow route and weathering detail without creating a new source of rainwater entry.

03

Ventilation and moisture sources

Condensation can also relate to air leakage, indoor moisture or insulation details. Roof-space ventilation is one part of moisture management and should not be presented as a guaranteed cure for every damp problem.
