EPDM is a flexible rubber membrane used in suitable flat-roof systems. Although a roof area may be covered with a large sheet, corners, outlets, seams and wall junctions still need system-compatible detailing and careful installation.
Preparing the substrate
The deck needs to meet the chosen system’s requirements. Uneven, damp or deteriorating substrates should not simply be covered without assessment and preparation.
Seams and penetrations
Roof shape determines whether seams are needed. Pipe penetrations, outlets and changes in level require suitable accessories and detailing; they should not be treated as incidental finishing work.
Repairs and material compatibility
Existing rubber roofing should be identified before repairs are specified. Cleaning, preparation and compatible products matter, and the deck beneath may need investigation where leaks have persisted.
