What to consider

GRP roofing uses a resin-and-glass-fibre build-up with finishing details appropriate to the roof system. The deck, perimeter trims and installation conditions all influence the finished waterproof surface.

01

Deck and edge preparation

The supporting deck and joints must suit the specified system. Perimeter trims and upstands form part of the weathering detail rather than serving only as a visual finish.

02

Installation conditions

Resin systems have particular requirements for substrate condition, temperature and weather. Installation should follow the chosen manufacturer’s guidance instead of being rushed through unsuitable conditions.

03

Investigating cracking

Movement, detail design or underlying defects may contribute to cracking. The cause should be considered before applying a local repair, especially when the same area has failed repeatedly.
