Deck and drainage
A suitable supporting deck and planned falls are fundamental. Outlets must be positioned and detailed to carry water away rather than leaving the waterproof covering to compensate for poor drainage.
Insulation and moisture control
Warm and cold roof arrangements manage insulation and ventilation differently. The appropriate construction should be specified as a complete system, including any required vapour-control layer.
Choosing the covering
EPDM rubber and GRP fibreglass are distinct systems with different installation details. Suitability depends on deck condition, geometry and the manufacturer’s requirements, rather than a single material being best for every roof.
